Hello 👋 + some good reads
It’s been awhile and a lot of that has been because so far the building process has been a whole lot of wait, wait, and wait on more of the boring permitting things.
And, well life hasn’t felt very encouraging as we jump from one family illness to another, BUT God has been good and faithful and drawn very close to our family. We have seen healing and we have also felt him leading us toward asking lots of hard questions. I love how he grows us the most in the challenge, and the older I get, the more I am learning to embrace those seasons with gratitude for where I know we will emerge on the other side. LOTS to potentially share another day. That being said, I am very ready for spring and a new season for our home. Anyone else feeling this?
There have been some exciting progress in the clearing of land for the barn, and I will have more updates on that front, but for
TODAY… I would love to share what I have been reading + loving. I hope it may encourage you!
Q&A a Day is a 5 year journal that I have done for 1+ years. It is so simple and asks a question mainly about motherhood each day. There is space to write in your answer. There is a different question for each day of the year and the thought is that as the years go on, you can look back and how your answers/memories/thoughts/reflections changed or stayed the same. It’s quick, easy and a great & cute way to keep track of memories. It has been something that I have stuck with for awhile and love!
How to Raise Selfless Kids in a Self-centered World instantly drew my attention because I feel like that is one of the biggest uphill battles we will face in parenting our kids in this day in age. This book is particle and a quick read and has given me some great focused time to really think about what I am prioritizing with my kids, in front of my kids as an example to them, and what can I change in our home/lives as they continue to grow. Highly recommend!
Don’t Mom Alone - love, love Heather MacFadyen of the podcast with great same name. I have listened to her for years and always felt encouraged, spurred on, and challenge to know and love both Jesus and other better. Her first book leaves you feeling the same!
Do you Believe? - Love everything Paul David Tripp writes or pretty much says. He is parenting wisdom with the gospel in mind. This is his latest book on the spiritual doctrines and so far it is amazing. I am not even a quarter of the way into it yet, because I am taking a chapter / spiritual disciple a month at a time and really digging deep. I can already tell it will be on of those books that I will want to reference back to throughout the years.
Seamless - this bible study by Angie Smith has been such a sweet part of my morning routine with the Lord. I really enjoy her writing style. She communicates wisdom and knowledge as a friend and share so much goodness and truth about how the Bible seamlessly weaves every detail together. I have loved it and am sad its over!
The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry I have listened to on Audible and has challenged me to my core. It is SO good and SO convicting. I have such a long, long way to go her, and I think I will have to listen to this one a second time. I think it is such an important topic as people, and especially as believers living in this time in history.
SO there we go… that’s what I have been learning and pouring into the past three months of 2022. What about you? What have you loved. Please share!
